The sad thing is that the great majority of buyers don't care about all that. They are content with what they are given and don't even realise that they are in this tight corset (also 'a bit like China'...).
But, if everybody who wants something different would keep their money and would not buy (!) perhaps Microsoft would wake up and perhaps something would change?!
